Although the Five Factor Diet is all the craze in Hollywood, the question is: is it right for you? The jury is still out on the effects of this diet. Let’s take a look at its origin and its method.
Harley Pasternak a trainer for Hollywood celebrities invented the 5 Factor Diet. Which involves the following.
Step one:
Eat five meals a day for five weeks
Step two:
Five ingredients per meal.
Step three:
Five minute exercises for five days.
Step four:
Five bad or cheat days in five weeks.
Sounds to good to be true right? Let’s take a closer look at the diet to see how this diet works.
According to one review of the Five Factor Diet, a nutritionist reports that it is a healthy plan that incorporates all the necessary food groups in appropriate proportions. The exercise program is also a combination of cardio and strength training as well.
Other experts take a different stance on this diet. They have said that, “although staying on the plan for the recommended five weeks can help you lose weight, portion control and consuming fewer calories during your lifetime is more effective.
As for the diet itself, people who have tried this diet find it difficult to eat five times a day for any longer than a few days which questions the longevity of this diet plan. Also these same people said that it is hard to find the snacks and meals the plan outlines, especially for those who have full time jobs. While some say that it takes a bit to much time and effort to come up with the ingredients, but that it can be accomplished.
A sample of five meals in one day on the Five Factor Diet plan are a protein shake, mushroom Risotto, Antipasto, French toast with Ricotta, and Indian Style Chicken with Brown Rice. Other foods include Chicken and Black Bean Quesadillas, Salmon with Cucumber-Dill Salad, Sea Scallops with Orange Sauce, and Egg and Turkey Bacon Sandwich. This menu has over 100 recipes included in the program.
Realistically other than the egg and turkey bacon sandwich or the protein shake, you can understand why some would find it difficult to find the ingredients for these meals, let alone preparing them. But you would have to agree that the meals would have to be prepared at home and taken
The FIve Factor Diet plan may be the diet plan for you, if your weight loss goals are short term but to think that this eating plan can be maintained long term is at best misguided
Good luck if you do decide to try the fad diet but odds are it will be more trouble than is worth.
