Bette Dowdell

So let me tell you how it is: This world came with rules.

Well, we don’t like rules so much, so sometimes we decide we know better.

Like, for instance, the makers of high fructose corn syrup. They’re big rule breakers. They say that isn’t so, but trust me, they break the rules.

But we pay the price.

Well, I could write about many things to prove my point, but let me talk about minerals.

Our bodies need minerals. Big time. Because our food no longer provides much nutrition, most of us are mighty low in minerals.

Minerals act as catalysts, making things happen, things that need to happen for function and good health. Not enough minerals means not so many things happening, which means reduced function and less than good health.

Except for all my foot-stamping, probably nobody ever told you about this. When’s the last time you had a conversation about, say, magnesium–probably the most important mineral of all, the initiator of more than 300 body functions? See what I mean? Big problem; no talk.

And here’s where nature’s rules come in. Nature insists on balance. Your body will balance your minerals even if it leaves you in a ditch. For instance, if your calcium and magnesium get out of balance, you body will eliminate whatever it must to get them balanced. So, if your magnesium is scraping bottom, your body will eliminate calcium until it’s scraping bottom, too. You’re in the ditch, but they’re balanced.

Since most of us are low in most minerals and our bodies attempt to keep things going by constantly balancing what minerals we have, is it any wonder that fatigue and disease rates keep zooming higher?

So we’re in a world of hurt, and the villain hasn’t entered the scene yet.

Enter high fructose corn syrup, processed to a fare-the-well, a concoction never seen in nature. Part of the processing strips minerals. So, HFCS is hugely unbalanced, in nature’s view of things.

When the I-got-no-minerals HFCS gets into our bodies, then, it shouts ‘Hallelujah!’ and scarfs down our minerals to balance itself. Our bodies then balance down what’s left. We think we’re just enjoying a soda, but World War III is going on inside us. And we’re losing.

The result? Our bones go south, our skin withers and aging gets ferocious–even early on. Our brains take a licking. Triglycerides go up. Insulin resistance increases. Not to mention that all sorts of diseases see us as easy pickings. HFCS is bad, bad stuff.

We need to do two things to win the battle: We need to have a good vitamin/mineral program so our bodies have what they need, and we need to quit eating and drinking stuff that contains high fructose corn syrup so it can’t do a number on us.

You can read about the vitamin/mineral part in the author’s box below. That’s kind of the easy part.

The second, avoiding HFCS, takes a lot of label-reading because HFCS is everywhere, in everything. All I can say is you get on to it. Reading labels may never be your favorite thing to do, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get the results you want to get.

Unless you like that lower-than-a-snake’s-belly feeling.

Confused about what vitamins and minerals you need? Not certain about what to look for in nutritional supplements? Bette Dowdell dug herself out of a really deep health ditch, and she wants to use her years of study to help you do the same. Don’t go dragging through life when you don’t have to. Stop Wasting Time With Those Clay Poker Chips and Get Fit

posted by Ultimate Weight Loss Warrior on Dec 29

Every overweight person has a million reasons why they can’t get fit and lose weight. Well it’s time to stop wasting valuable time making excuses or playing with those clay poker chips and drinking beer with your buddies. Instead you’ve to get up and start doing something for your health. To lose weight and get in shape you’re going to have to make some sacrifices and major lifestyle changes but you won’t regret it once you see the final result. Follow my tips and you’ll at least have the basics down and you’ll be primed for change.

First you must overhaul your current diet. This means no more McDonalds or massive bowls of pasta. Go to mypyramid.gov for helpful suggestions if you aren’t sure where to start. In general your diet should consist of nutritious foods that are low in calories in fat. You should eat plenty of fruit such as apples, pears and berries which contain antioxidants and fiber. Vegetables should also be plentiful in your new diet. Whole grains are also essential as they help to regulate your blood sugar levels which will help to stave off binge eating. Lean proteins should be a staple item as well.

Once you’ve mentally prepared yourself for your change in diet, you will have to start exercising as well. Take it easy at first if its been a long time since you’ve done any form of physical activity. You may even want to speak with you doctor before starting a new exercise regimen. But in general, for significant weight-loss you will need to workout five days per week for 45 minutes to an hour of cardio. You will also want to alternate days of weightlifting as well. Anaerobic exercise will not only give you more defined muscles, it will increase the strength of your bones.

Low Carb Meal Plans

You Don’t Really Need Low Carb Meal Plans

The reason you don’t really need low carb meal plans, is for the same reason most diets are short-lived and have limited long-term benefit. Diets are unnatural, contrived and restrictive. In order to sustain good eating habits that will allow you to lose excess weight and maintain it over the long term, you must change your behaviors permanently. Creating an obstacle course in the middle of your life is not conducive to success.

In addition, ‘diets’ do not allow you to live your life without being obsessed with counting things and you are not being allowed to enjoy life as it ‘flows’. We might be able to do this for a short period, if we are very determined, but in the long run, ‘diets’ take on a life of their own, replacing yours! Therefore, planning meals should be easy, if you just keep some key principals in mind.

It would be helpful to have a low-carb cook book for preparing quick meals on the fly. It is rather tedious to have to plan a meal everyday and it can be complicated to be sure you have all of the necessary ingredients for a dish. So if nothing else, it would help you shop. However, remember, keep it natural so it will blend in with your real life and that of your family.

I feel that companies that sell low carb meal plans, or any other weight loss diet plans, are expensive and unnecessary. Especially if you have a ‘club’ or whatever you have to participate in, newsletters, websites, logs, etc., they also can take up an excessive amount of time and take on a life of their own. However, some need this group support in order to maintain their will power and determination. For this reason they may be sustainable for a short period. The problem is if the person feels overwhelmed. Counting can actually become an obsession and is one of the behaviors that compulsive obsessive disorder includes. Don’t get in the habit, especially in conjunction with low self-esteem.

Low carb meal plans, therefore, in order to be sustainable, should be natural and include all of the traditional foods that you and your family are used to. If these include an excessive amount of high carb foods, then of course those should be strictly curtailed or even omitted as a rule. So in this case, you reduce the portions of these foods. In order for this not to be more unpleasant than it needs to be, you need to substitute these elements for others which are more healthful. To just remove large food groups is going to create resistance and may even promote cheating and splurging or binging.

Just keep in mind to avoid processed foods in your low carb diet and include natural, unadulterated foods. Keep in mind that while everything may have carbs, that is because carbohydrates are necessary. However, consuming your full day’s recommended value, should not include much of the worst offenders, and usual suspects – sugar, starch and saturated fat laden foods in large portions. Remember we need carbohydrates for energy. We need fat to burn fat, among other things. Saturated fat is animal fat, whether it is in meat or milk, and should be severely limited; however, good fats should be promoted. Good fats are unsaturated and natural, from vegetable sources such as in nuts, olive, soy, oil.

Body Building/Body-Building_48.txt

Body Building/Body-Building_48.txt

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase ‘body building’? This activity is defined as body building. The result of these intensive training and dietary programs is visible in the form of strong and toned muscles, which creates a very attractive and sexy appeal for those professional and amateur body builders. How do you identify the main criteria to get the best possible result that fulfills all requirements of the body building standards? There are basically two steps to an effective body building program, the first is weight training and second through the use of proper nutrition.

Let’s start by taking a closer look at the first element, weight lifting. Regular weight lifting sessions is essential, so you would need physical strength and endurance to cope with the demands of the program. Weight lifting may originate as a form of sports, but there are many who choose to take up weight lifting to develop attractive bodies. There are tremendous benefits of weight lifting for the entire body, plus it is also useful in assisting the body to recover from a serious injury. It is good to include weight lifting into any health or rehabilitation program, under the strict guidance of a medical professional.

A good diet and nutrition is essential to ensure that you get the best out of your body building program. Those who do train for body building competitions will need a lot of protein introduced into their daily diet. Carbohydrates are important to supply energy for your body building effort and most will come from complex sources. There are plenty of delicious carbohydrates for that fast energy action such as brown rice, oatmeal and sweet potato. Fiber is very important in your diet as it helps facilitate the easy digestion of consumed food and helps expel toxins from the body.

Your body needs ample supply of water to avoid any damage to the existing muscles. The habit of consuming plenty of fresh water is a good way to maintain your health and bodily systems. It is also helpful to drink between exercises. To ensure a safe and successful training session, you need to control how you lift and bend during those exercise so as not to tear any ligament or tendons,

Foods High in Cholesterol – Nuts – Good Or Bad For Your Cholesterol Levels

posted by Ultimate Weight Loss Warrior on Dec 29

Foods High in Cholesterol – Nuts and seeds like Almonds and Pistachios are now proven to help reduce the bad or LDL cholesterol levels in our blood. High cholesterol levels are a factor in the onset of strokes and heart attacks. New studies show that high levels of selenium in the blood bring on an increase in cholesterol levels. One of the best sources of selenium in our diet is brazil nuts.

These nuts have traditionally been recommended as a great way to build up your immune system and have even been suggested as a way of protecting the body from the onset of some cancers. Selenium is also found in fish, meat and some types of grains. Prostate cancer is said to be one of the cancers that selenium can protect you against and some research has added corectal, lung, breast and colon cancers to this list. It is also found to protect your skin from ageing due to exposure to the sun’s rays.

Studies at Warwick University in the United Kingdom have shown that eating large quantities of Brazil nuts and selenium-rich foods are linked to a 10 per cent rise in cholesterol. They found that those people with blood selenium concentrations higher than 1.20micromoles per litre had their levels of total cholesterol raised by an average of 8 per cent. More alarmingly, levels of the ‘bad’ LDL type of cholesterol that is linked to circulation problems and heart disease were increased by 10 per cent. So although brazil nuts are not one of the foods high in cholesterol, they raise cholesterol levels by their selenium content.

Brazil nuts are high in monosaturated fats and exceptionally rich in selenium and although average intake of brazil nuts is probably only around half the current recommended level there is a widespread use of selenium supplements. These supplements can substantially increase your blood levels to way above the accepted limits. Weight for weight, brazils contain as much protein as eggs, making them ideal for vegetarians and vegans. They contain all the B vitamins except B12, as well as potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper and contain an essential fatty acid called linoleic acid that has been shown to help balance hormone levels and protect your skin from damage.

Researches say that it is a little previous to suggest that taking selenium supplements is harmful for heart health but they say to avoid the Foods High in Cholesterol.

A Flat Belly Diet ©

posted by Ultimate Weight Loss Warrior on Dec 29

The fastest and most efficient way to rev up your metabolism, burn fat faster, and develop lifelong health and fitness is to add lean muscle to your body through resistance training – period. You want life changing results in the quickest possible time? Get stronger and build some muscle. When you add lean muscle to your body you’ll be literally turning your body into a fat burning machine!

Let’s say that you were eating the amount of calories that allow you to maintain your current bodyweight, but began to add lean muscle to your body through proper resistance training…you’ll need to use some of those calories you’re eating to feed the new muscle, creating a calorie deficit in your body.

Fad diets, they all have one thing in common.  They’re diets.  They are like a pair of bell bottom pants.  They are in for a couple of years and they’re gone.  Then they find they’re way back just when the fitness professionals know we are ready to eat ‘em up again…no pun intended.  When you’re trying to burn fat, you really should avoid these things like the plague.

Now, realistically many of these diets will provide some initial fat loss for many people.  So you get some weight loss initially, but you could also lose some muscle on these programs too, and you know that losing muscle can spell disaster to your fat burning efforts.  But the bigger problem with these diets is that most who follow outlandish diets gain back the fat they lost, and then some!

On top of that, they often recommend focusing too much on one type of food, which can lead to unhealthy eating habits.  I’ve found they are too strict to be realistically followed, especially for a long period of time, and they’re no fun.  And anything you can’t follow as a lifestyle will not burn fat in the long run.

So you can probably see, if you’re even the least bit interested
in how to get leaner, stronger, and healthier for the rest of
your life, without having to spend all week in the gym or follow
a fad diet, then you’ll want to claim your fat loss freebies now.

Weight Watchers Canada Coupon Soon To Be Discontinued?

posted by Ultimate Weight Loss Warrior on Dec 29

Have you heard about the Weight Watchers Canada coupon?  Well if you haven’t, you may already be too late. Weight Watchers Canada is rumoured to be expiring these coupons just in time for the weight loss season.

Weight Watchers Canada is the Canadian franchise of the industry respected and weight loss giant Weight Watchers America.  Following in their parents footsteps, Weight Watchers Canada has been offering special online coupons that saves potential clients 25% off of the price of the Weight Watchers Canada online program when they sign up for a minimum of three months.  The buzz in weight loss circles is that, with weight loss season just around the corner, Weight Watchers Canada may take a different direction away from their parent company, Weight Watchers America, and stop accepting the Weight Watchers Canada coupon for a few months or expire the Weight Watchers Canada coupon completely.

Did you know that there is such a thing as weight loss season?  Well, there are actually two weight loss seasons or times of year that weight loss product sales traditionally peak. By far, the largest of the weigh loss peaks arrive just a few days after the Christmas feast on January first when everyone makes their New Year’s resolutions to lose weight.  With hundreds of millions of people around the world thinking the exact same thing – let’s lose weight – how could it not be the biggest time of the year for the weight loss industry. The other smaller peak arrives in April when people see that winter is ending and there is still some time to shed some pounds before bikini and beach season.

These year-over-year trends have not escaped the notice of the big weight loss companies. You may or may have not noticed a slight shift in advertising around these peaks times of the year. Keep an eye out in January and April and you will probably see a decline in advertisements for weight loss products. Large companies like Weight Watchers Canada have been tracking these trends for decades and know that they don’t need to advertise as much when people are motivated and beating a path to your door.  The rumour is that Weight Watchers Canada is thinking about taking things a little further this year.

The Weight Watchers Canada weight loss program is great.  The company has been around since the early sixties and has helped millions of ordinary people permanently lose weight. They focus on making healthy food choices and portion control.  You can eat your own food and there is no need to buy special pre-made food or take pills, supplements or drugs.  The Weight Watchers Canada program is based on common sense so you can follow it for life.  Weight Watchers Canada estimates that, to remain healthy, for most people will loose between 1 and 2 pounds per week (after the first 3 weeks).

Lose Weight in One Week – This is Amazing, and it Works!

posted by Ultimate Weight Loss Warrior on Dec 28

Everyone wants to lose weight in one week, but is this possible?  Short of starvation diets or fasting, there really is an easier way.  You don’t need to put your health in danger or deprive yourself of food to lose a few pounds in one weeks time!  Here is some information about a plan like no other you have seen.

I know, you are probably thinking diet meals like Jenny Craig or other popular plans.  These plans are expensive, and don’t really work very well in keeping the weight off.  You can eat real foods without purchasing any special diet foods or supplements and STILL lose weight in a week!

Most popular diet plans call for eating either low calorie or low carbohydrate meals.  Is this necessary?  No, it isn’t.  There are fat burning foods that when used in the right way will allow you to achieve weight loss in only one week.

How much weight can you lose in this short amount of time?  It varies, but on average a weight loss of 3 to 4 pounds can be easily achieved – without suffering from hunger!  On average, most people who have tried this plan have lost 9 pounds in 11 days.  This is remarkable considering you are eating real, fat burning foods.

This method of weight loss is known as “calorie cycling”.  You eat fat burning foods in certain combinations for 11 days, then cycle off for 3 days and eat anything you want within reason.  This plan is easy because you eat often, you eat good foods, and you never feel hungry.  Doesn’t that sound like a great way to lose weight in one week?

Why does this method of weight loss work?  Because certain foods increase your metabolism and help your body incinerate fat.  This causes increased calorie burn, and the pounds come off much quicker.  Some of the foods that are great fat burners are fruits, nuts, beans, lean proteins and calcium rich foods.

Are you ready to finally lose the weight, and do it quickly and easily?  You really don’t have to follow those expensive, strict diet plans in order to achieve your goals.  An added plus – your health will improve, and you will have more energy than before!  It really is possible to lose weight in one week, in a totally healthy way.

The Quickest Way to Lose Weight

posted by Ultimate Weight Loss Warrior on Dec 27

Are you looking for the quickest way to lose weight?  There is a plan that is extremely easy to follow, with no starvation like most other plans!  If you have tried other methods that promise fast weight loss and leave you weak with hunger, you really have to check out this awesome plan!

Most plans (probably the ones you have tried) have you eat prepackaged meals that contain around 250 to 300 calories.  Was the food good?  Probably not.  It’s usually very bland and tasteless.  Were you full and satisfied?  No way!  That’s not a fun way to drop pounds, is it? Let me tell you about the quickest way to lose weight you will ever see – and it’s simple.

You can achieve rapid weight loss by using regular, everyday foods.  No more rice cakes, celery sticks and yogurt!  By learning what the foods are that burn fat and calories, you can transform your metabolism and turn your body into a fat incinerator.

There are many foods that you eat every day that are terrific fat burners, you just have to know how to combine them with other foods for maximum results. The online plan I am telling you about teaches you how to do that, and when to eat for the fastest weight loss.  No counting calories, no portion limits – can you believe it?

We all know people who eat like hogs and never gain an ounce.  They have a fast metabolism, and you can too.  Some of the best fat burning foods are fruits, vegetables, spicy foods that contain cayenne pepper and garlic, dairy products (yes, calcium is a GREAT fat burner), lean proteins, green tea.  The list goes on and on.

This online plan is the quickest way to lose weight you will ever come across.  What makes it special?  They teach you what foods to eat and in what combination.  By combining your foods the right way at meals, you get the best calorie and fat burn possible.  Also, knowing when to eat is important.

With this plan, you eat until you feel satisfied.  Doesn’t that sound much more appealing than those bland diet meals that contain enough food for a three year old?

Want to learn more about fast ways to lose weight that work? Take a look at the information below. Your body will never be the same again!
